About AP Animal Husbandry - SMILE Institute
1. Origin of the Institute
The State Management Institute of Livestock Entrepreneurship (SMILE), Visakhapatnam has been established at Visakhapatnam as per the G.O.Ms.No.45, Dt.06.09.2016.
In the undivided Andhra Pradesh, State Management Institute for Livestock Development in AP (SMILDA) was looking after the capacity building of the officers and staff of the Animal Husbandry Department, with its head quarters at Hyderabad. After bifurcation of the state, SMILE Visakhapatnam has been sanctioned with similar mandate and this state level Institute is sanctioned at Visakhapatnam and started functioning with effect from 29.04.2017.

3. Mandate of SMILE
1.Organise need based training programmes, conferences, seminars and workshops for various categories of departmental functionaries, NGOs and other stakeholders
2.Undertake, aid, promote and coordinate research in Livestock sector on its own and / or collaborate with State, national and international development agencies
3.Analyse and offer solutions to problems encountered in planning and implementation of the programs
4.Develop content and disseminate information and transfer technology through periodicals, reports, e-modules and other publications
5.Gaining insight into Animal Husbandry extension management systems and policies
6.Forging collaborative linkages with prominent state, regional, national and international institutions for sharing faculty resource
7.Serving as an international documentation centre for collecting, storing, processing and disseminating information on subjects related to Animal Husbandry
4. Infrastructure Details
SMILE was allotted 2 Acres of land in the Survey No.96 of chinagadili village in the premises of FSBS, Visakhapatnam.
